Welcome to my website. I hope you find it informative and helpful. I have been an active member of the Michiana community for over 35 years, beginning my financial services career in 1986, following ten (10) years as CEO of a not-for-profit human services organization.

Managing the financial resources which God has provided and being a good steward can be a daunting task.  It is my hope and purpose to help you do just that.  This includes vital risk management issues of life, disability and long term care insurance products.  It also addresses adequate planning for educational expenses, a secure retirement and charitable giving.

I completed my professional designations through the American College of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in 1990 and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) in 1991.  I have served as a director and/or officer of the North Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Financial Service Professionals, the North Central Indiana Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and the Estate Planning Council of Michiana.  I am also a member of the Mishawaka Business Association.

I've been a long standing advocate of the Arts, with involvement and support of WVPE-FM 88.1 Public Radio, WAUS-FM, WNIT-TV, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, the Firefly Festival, and South Bend Civic Theatre, where I have served on the board of directors since 2000, and recently completed my second term as President.  I have also served on the Executive Board of the LaSalle Council, Boy Scouts of America and chairperson of the Council's endowment committee.  As a member of Clay United Methodist Church, I sing in the choir, am a member of the board of the foundation, part of the leadership team for Men's Ministries, and a past member of trustees and staff/parish relations committees.  I served in the Sidewalk Sunday School ministry for over 13 years and currently am a volunteer mentor at Swanson Elementary School.  I have been involved the  Matthew 25 Build for Habitat for Humanity for the past three years.

My Bachelors Degree was earned from Wabash College. I also have a Masters Degree in counseling from the University of Northern Colorado, and did post graduate work in industrial psychology at Indiana/Purdue University of Indianapolis. As part of my continuing professional development, I complete in excess of twenty (20) hours of continuing education each year.

Evaluating Life Insurance Needs

It's a good idea for people to evaluate their life insurance coverage to help ensure it keeps pace with their needs. Not only do major life events affect the amount of coverage that may be needed, but inflation can reduce the purchasing power of the death benefit and a greater benefit may be needed to cover estate taxes and other debts.

To Roll or Not to Roll: It's Your Choice

Some employers are encouraging departing employees to leave their retirement savings in their employer plans. But employees should make any decisions based on their own needs and concerns, not the former employer's. Read about the pros and cons of rolling over retirement plan assets to an IRA.

Pick Up This Split for Long-Term Retirement Income

The number of Americans aged 90 or older almost tripled from 1980 through 2010 and is projected to quadruple by 2050. As people live longer they may need to fund a longer-than-expected retirement. This article discusses how a split-annuity strategy could help provide a long-term income stream.

Designating Retirement Plan Beneficiaries

IRAs and defined-contribution plans have become an important component of personal wealth for households. Designating account beneficiaries and keeping the designations current can be a complex — but important — process to perform on a regular basis as certain life events and tax situations can necessitate a change.
